Your Body Can Burn Fat on Its Own
Your Body Can Burn Fat on Its Own
Wouldn’t you just love it if your body decided to burn fat and calories on its own?
It can:
1. Exercise in short, intense bursts (interval training) for effective fat burning after exercise.
2. Increase the amount of resistance/strength/weight training you do, to build more lean muscle. Muscle is ‘metabolically active’ and burns more calories than other body tissue even when you’re not moving.
And of course, for best results:
3. Chill on the amount of food you are eating.
Technically:
1. Our bodies are built to survive, so when you exercise for long periods of time (often and consistently) your body thinks it needs to hold on to fat for energy. Doing short (12-15 minute), intense exercise sessions builds strength and burns calories, but not fat, so it “feels safe” using fat stores for energy after exercise.
2. Resistance training (using extra weight) helps build lean muscle mass (and strong bones), and muscle burns more calories than fat.
3. If you are obsessing over things like fat grams and not eating a nutritious diet, your body will reserve energy (store fat) to survive.
Realistically:
1. Varying your exercise is the most effective and efficient way to stay lean and healthy. You must do some longer exercise to build cardiovascular endurance, burn lots of calories, and yes, even burn fat during exercise - your body will not click in to “save” mode unless you exercise for long periods of time, regularly and often.
2. You must do resistance training in order to build muscle and strong bones.
3. Nobody wants to exercise more - and we don’t want to train our bodies to need more exercise to stay fit. So exercise efficiently – two short, very intense (relative to your level of fitness) training sessions weekly, like a 15-minute fast run/walk or fast cycling sprint intervals, and two moderately long, moderately intense sessions (30-45 minutes) of strong walking, cycling, or yoga, with one long day (60-90 minutes) of a moderately paced walk/hike. That’s a great five-day/week training schedule.
4. Instead of adding more days to your workout schedule, add a weighted vest to your training. I have said this before, but this is the most efficient way that I know of to build muscle while burning calories. For more information, go to http://www.walkvest.com/.
5. Eat moderately - stop counting fat grams and calories and look at how much food is on your plate! And eat more nutritiously by eating foods that are natural and unprocessed.
Keep it real -

Crossless Christianity
“Many Christian leaders today point to Jesus as a good moral guide (WWJD), an inspirational figure of self-sacrifice, or one who resolves our problem with loneliness. And in doing so, these shepherds have managed to avoid one of the most central teachings of the entire Bible; namely Jesus’ atoning sacrifice for sinners.”

Mastering Pick and Roll
-Basketball 101-
John Stockton is the NBA’s all-time leader in assists (15,806) and in steals (3,265). It’s true that he had Karl Malone next to him, but his ability to use the screen and roll to a level of perfection made this duo one of the deadliest ever.
Ask yourself these questions:
- Can you create a shooting situation every time you play screen and roll?
- Are you afraid of the trap or hedge? Are you just looking to get the ball away from you as fast as you can?
- Can you find the open man?
| What Should I Do? Here are some Practical Tips … |
Screen and roll is one of the toughest situations to defend, if the offense team masters this play.
- Don’t rush it; you need time to read the situation.
- Try to start the play where you can take the shot. If the defender is going under the screen, make him pay.
- It doesn’t matter what kind of a solution the defense is trying: hedge, switch, trap… someone is going to be open or with a mismatch you want to take advantage of.
- If there is a trap, it is most likely that one of your teammates will have a better passing angle to the big guy.
- If you started to drive and can’t finish, the corner man is waiting for the shot. He is w-i-d-e open.
- At least 25% of the time you need to fake and go to the same side you came from. No one will expect that.
Practice the above, with a help of a friend. Play the screen and roll and each time use a different option: drive, drive-and-dish, drive-and-kick to the corner, etc.

Israeli scientists put Bible on chip smaller than pinhead
JERUSALEM — Israeli scientists said on Tuesday they have created the world’s smallest Bible, fitting a Hebrew-language version of the holy book on a gold-coated silicon chip smaller than a pinhead.
Researchers from Technion, Israel’s Institute of Technology, were able to pack the 308,428-word Hebrew Bible — known to most as the Old Testament — on a 0.5 millimeter square, Ohad Zohar, who directed the project, told Agence France-Presse.
“This is the world’s tiniest Bible,” Zohar said. “The Guinness Book of World Records has a Bible 50 times bigger.”
The scientists managed their feat by sending focused beams of tiny particles, called gallium ions, onto the surface of the silicon chip.
“By sending a particle beam towards various points on the substrate, we can etch any pattern of points, especially one that represents text,” said Zohar, a physics doctoral student.
The nano-Bible was developed by the Haifa-based institute as part of an educational program aimed at increasing interest in nanoscience among teenagers.
The scientists now want to take pictures of the miniature Bible and blow it up to a seven-by-seven meter (yard) poster, which will make it “possible to read the entire Bible with the naked eye,” he said
